Acceptable use policy

We’re committed to fostering the safe and responsible use of our platform and expect you to share that same commitment. We want to give you the ability to build and create across our platform while also providing clear guidelines about how you can and cannot use our platform. We expect to evolve these guidelines from time to time, for example to reflect changes to law, and will highlight any significant updates we choose to make. If we believe you’ve violated this policy, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account. As you would expect, by using our platform, you agree to comply with this policy.
General Policies. As you use our platform, we expect you to:
- comply with the law. You can’t use our platform for any illegal activities (for example, by using output content to make automated discriminatory employment decisions), to violate a third party’s intellectual property rights, to violate the privacy rights of others, or otherwise break the law;
- not cause harm or otherwise engage in threatening behavior. You can’t use our platform to create abusive, discriminatory, threatening, violent, or harmful content; and
- respect the safety measures we put in place. you can’t circumvent our safety and security measures, which are in place to protect you and the data you share with us, unless we give you specific written permission to do so.
Building with our platform or APIs. We don’t allow our platform to be used for:
Deceptive or misleading activities. This includes using the platform to:
- impersonate another individual or organization;
- misrepresent to your end user or customers that they are interacting with an AI system rather than a human, or misrepresent to any third party that the platform output is human-generated;
- generate deceptive or misleading content, including for disinformation campaigns;
- deter or otherwise circumvent participation in democratic processes; or
- engage in or promote any forms of academic dishonesty, including plagiarism.
Harmful, abusive or fraudulent activities. This includes using the platform to:
- describe, encourage, support, or provide instructions on how to harm people (including self-harm, shaming, bullying and hate speech), animals, or property;
- promote, facilitate or generate content for fraudulent activities, including scams, pyramid schemes, phishing or malware;
- compromise security or gain unauthorized access to computer systems or networks, including spoofing and social engineering;
- “jailbreak” or override the safety features built into the platform;
- generate or process pornographic or other sexual content, content sexualizing children or any other form of sexually explicit content, or
- use platform input or output to train or improve an AI model (e.g., engage in model scraping).
Illegal, malicious or certain highly regulated activities. This includes using the platform to:
- provide instructions on how to engage in or facilitate any crime or illegal activity;
- provide legal, medical/health or financial advice without review by a qualified professional and disclosure of the use of AI assistance and its potential limitations; or
- automate high-stakes decisions in areas that affect a person’s safety, rights or well-being, including things like law enforcement, insurance, safety components of products, extending credit, employment, housing, and education.
